Two Missoula, Mont., men are charged in the fatal shooting of a horse in the Ninemile Valley earlier this week.


David A. Moorse, 21, and Jacob C. Scharff, 25, were each charged Thursday with accountability for criminal mischief, a felony, and misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Both were jailed on $50,000 bail.


“We’ve got two people in custody and they’re each saying the other guy did it,” said Sgt. Pat Estill with the Missoula County sheriff’s office.


Both men acknowledged being extremely intoxicated the morning of the shooting, and said they consumed about a half-gallon of whiskey, court records said
