A 13-year-old girl ran into a burning barn to retrieve a horse, reports The London Free Press online edition. Another horse was rescued by another individual as the fire began in the barn near Gadshill, Ontario. The barn and $60,000 (CAN) in hay was lost in the fire.

The teenager, Tricia Lindner, trains horses at the farm of Chuck and Tracy Robinson, near Gadshill, and she was tacking up one of the Robinson’s horses when she heard her brother scream “fire.” One of the owners’ daughters got one of the horses out of the barn while Lindner ran to the house to make sure Tracy Robinson called 911. Lindner then rescued the other horse.

“The barn was destroyed, as was its contents–some of last year’s second cut of hay and a portion of this year’s first cut,” stated the article. “A tractor and baler were also heavily damaged by fire and smoke.”
