The first edition of the Performance Horse Registry (PHR) e-newsletter, American Breeder News, was sent on July 8. A breeder-savvy publication about sport horse breeding in North America, American Breeder News will be delivered to subscribers’ e-mail boxes every month, offering the latest news affecting the breeding industry from the PHR, breed registries across the United States, and American breeders themselves.

This launch coincides with the unveiling of the PHR’s redesigned web site, www.phr.com. In addition to featuring information contained in American Breeder News, the site offers a regularly updated news section on the home page.

The new site also offers horse owners and breeders the chance to register their horses with the PHR, a growing registry open to any breed of horse. In addition, owners will be able to learn about DNA typing their horses, apply for the Silver Stirrups Awards program, check their Silver Stirrups standings, list their stallions in the Stallion Directory, join the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), and find links to breed registries.

The Performance Horse Registry (PHR) offers horse owners and breeders the opportunity to obtain identification papers for their horses, record pedigrees, and collect performance records–all in one setting. Not only does this provide a place to track success, it also provides an avenue to explore the importance of making breeding decisions. Since the PHR is part of the USEF, your horses’ records will be part of an extensive equine database
