A Tennessee woman accused of misrepresenting a horse before selling it to new owners in Texas has been arrested.

A written statement from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) said that buyers in Texas found the horse advertised as a barrel racer on a social networking website. They purchased the horse and had the animal shipped from Tennessee to Texas, but contacted the TSCRA when the horse was allegedly sick and malnourished upon arrival.

Following an investigation by the Marion County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Lydia N. Culp was arrested on felony theft charges out of Falls County, Texas. The charges allege that Culp misrepresented the horse and then sold the animal to victims in Falls County, the statement said. She is also accused of using several aliases and of shipping similarly misrepresented horse all over the United States, the statement said.
