More Horses Seized From Florida Rescue

The rescue made news in 2014 when its operators were found guilty of multiple counts of animal cruelty.

Five allegedly maltreated horses are receiving rehabilitative care after being removed from property belonging to a Florida rescue that was the subject of an animal cruelty investigation last year.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow said department personnel responded to a complaint about thin horses residing on property owned by the Napier Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary on Dec. 22. The sanctuary made news in 2014 when its operators, Alan and Sheree Napier, were found guilty of multiple counts of animal cruelty, including cruelty to horses. 

Upon arrival, deputies discovered five allegedly malnourished animals residing on the property, Bristow said. According to the corresponding written report, the call was the most recent that the Manatee County Sheriff’s office had received regarding the property.

“This time the horses were in the worst shape seen by deputies,” the report said
