The 2012 University of Maryland (UM) Extension Pasture Management Training Series for Horse Owners is scheduled to begin April 19 at 6:00 p.m. with a lecture on rejuvenating overgrazed winter pastures. The lecture will take place at the UM Equine Rotational Grazing Demonstration Site in Ellicott City.

The presenter on April 19 will be Doug Tregoning, MS, a former Montgomery County Extension agent specializing in small, part time farmers and the equine industry. Tregoning will discuss how pastures overworked and overgrazed during the winter can be revived into productive fields.

According to the UM Extension website, "educational materials will be provided, and light refreshments will be served. All events will be held rain or shine."

The UM Extension will also feature equine pasture-related lectures in May ("Tricks to Managing Horse Farmette Pastures"), June ("Nutrition and Health of the Pastured Horse"), and July (Au natural! Non-chemical Weed Control")
