Molly the Pony, one of the world’s only prosthesis-wearing ponies, will be visiting The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine Aug. 6 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Visitors will have the chance to hear the presentation “It’s All About Molly” at 5 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the Wexner Auditorium in the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building by Dr. Rustin Moore, DVM, MS, PhD, Dipl. ACVS, Bud and Marilyn Jenne Professor and chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Molly will be on the lawn outside for visitors to meet her and her owner, Kaye Harris, before and after Moore’s presentation.

Molly was rescued by Kaye and Glenn Harris after Hurricane Katrina, but was injured by a dog that was also a Katrina rescue. Her owner, Kaye Harris, inquired about amputation and a prosthesis. Moore performed the rare and difficult surgery while he was director of the Equine Health Studies Program at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Read more and see photos.

Molly now travels and visits anyone who can benefit from her quiet wisdom, inspiring people of all ages and abilities. Molly the Pony books will be available for purchase with proceeds benefitting Molly’s Foundation (cash or checks only please)
