Two Louisiana horses are dead after being shot multiple times and authorities are seeking those responsible.

Deputy Robert Martin, Assumption Parish, Louisiana, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said law enforcement personnel responded to the scene of a horse shooting near Bertrandville on March 18. Upon arrival deputies found that two horses had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, he said. One was horse dead, Martin said. The other horse survived the shootings, but was later euthanized by a veterinarian, he said.

“Both horses were in their stalls in the barn at the time they were shot,” he said.

If caught, those responsible could face multiple charges, Martin said
