Two veterinarians from Michigan State University's (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine will present a free seminar on equine nutrition on Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The seminar will take place in E-100 Veterinary Medical Center on the MSU campus.

Judy Marteniuk, DVM, MS, and Hal Schott II, DVM, PhD, will present "What Should You Feed Your Horse?" They will discuss basic equine nutrition, getting your horse nutritionally ready for winter, and feeding the horse with equine metabolic syndrome.

Correct and balanced nutrition is a critical component of proper horse care, but it is not simple. Age, weight, activity level, overall health, and even the season affect the choices horse owners should make about what they feed their horses. In addition to basic horse feeds, there is a bewildering array of specialized mixes and nutritional supplements for horses that claim to cure every conceivable problem.

The Veterinary Medical Center is located at the intersection of Wilson Road and Bogue Street on the MSU campus. Maps and directions can be found at https://maps.msu.edu. Guests should park in the Wharton Center parking ramp. Walk south out of the ramp to Wilson Road, and cross the street. The entrance to E-100 is to the right of the Small Animal Clinic. (Please avoid using the Small Animal Clinic entrance
