Betsy Greene, PhD, professor and Extension equine specialist at the University of Vermont, was recently honored with the 2013 Equine Science Award during the Joint Annual Science Meetings held in Indianapolis, Ind.

Greene is the fourth recipient of this award, sponsored by Zinpro Corporation and presented in conjunction with the Equine Science Society and the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS). Established in 2008, the Equine Science Award is designed to help recognize outstanding achievements in the areas of extension, research, teaching, or agribusiness in the equine industry.

"We congratulate Dr. Greene and thank her for her strong dedication and commitment to exceptional work in field of equine science," says Russ Wyllie, vice president of sales for the Americas at Zinpro Corporation. "Her teaching efforts and extension programs focusing on horse health, safety, pasture management and equine business are helping to build a brighter future for the equine industry we know and love. She embodies the spirit of why this award was established five years ago."

Greene earned a doctorate degree from Kansas State University in Manhattan, and she received a master’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She received her bachelor’s degree Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky
