Rolex 2011: No Major Injuries During Cross-Country Phase

No horses suffered serious injuries yesterday during the cross-country phase of the 2011 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, currently under way at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.

No horses suffered serious injuries yesterday during the cross-country phase of the 2011 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, currently under way at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.

According to Susan Johns, DVM, a veterinarian at this year’s competition and a senior associate at Virginia Equine Imaging in The Plains, it was a good year for cross-country at Rolex.

"Some of the horses might have had some hind-end soreness from the deep footing," she said, adding that all of the horses presented at the final horse inspection trotted up sound Sunday morning.

Michael Pollard (USA) did not present Wonderful Will, a 14-year-old American-bred Thoroughbred, at the final horse inspection this morning, however Johns said that there was no information available as to why he was not presented. Pollard and Wonderful Will were sitting in 12th place after cross-country
