CANTER Mid-Atlantic Launches Winter Hay, Holiday Card Drive

CANTER Mid-Atlantic is launching a winter hay and holiday card drive to raise $4,500 to insure resources are available to maintain its much needed winter hay supply.

During this holiday season of giving, please consider a donation to CANTER Mid-Atlantic, an organization that has consistently supported the Mid-Atlantic horseracing community and provided a safety net for horses after their racing career ends, the organization requested.  With nearly 30 horses going through rehabilitation, therapy and retraining, cold weather can put a strain on finances.

Through the CANTER Mid-Atlantic program, horses are given the time necessary to successfully move into a second career.  Ex-racehorses donated to CANTER Mid-Atlantic begin their journey off the racetrack and rehabilitating at one of the designated CANTER farms for as long as they need.

“We believe that the slow way is the best way to find the best home and rider match for a horse,” said CANTER Mid-Atlantic Executive Director Allie Conrad. “We work very hard to ensure that all of our horses receive any and all of the attention that they need. Doing this is very expensive for the organization, but we feel it is the primary mission of CANTER.”

CANTER Mid-Atlantic is asking those supporters who are able to please donate (an $8 donation will cover a bale of hay) to the winter hay and holiday card drive. Your donations will help us continue taking in needy thoroughbreds, rehabilitating, retraining and rehoming them.
