National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame stallion and Million Dollar Sire, Topsail Cody, died February 23 from colic. Foaled in 1977, Topsail Cody won the 1980 National Reining Horse Association Futurity, then earned the American Quarter Horse Association Junior Reining World Championship the next year.

Topsail Cody’s foals have earned in excess of $1,193,000. He was inducted into the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame in 1996 and was honored as an NRHA Million Dollar Sire in 1998. In 2001 his son, Topsail Whiz, became a million dollar sire as well.

With a handful of mares already bred and settled in 2002, and with some frozen semen on hand, 2003 will see the last foal crop of this great sire
