The organizers of the 2014 Equestrian Social Media Awards (ESMAs) announced Feb. 24 that has received first place from the judges for "Best Use of Social Media in the Americas."

The ESMA judges also placed second in the "Best Use of Social Media by a Publication" category. Additionally, the Equestrian Digital Awards (EDA) judges placed third in the "Website >20k visitors" category. was also a finalist in the EDAs' rich media category for the "5 Things You Need to Know" video series.

“We’re excited to be recognized by ESMA,” said Michelle Anderson, digital managing editor of The Horse. “We work hard to deliver up-to-date and veterinarian-approved horse-health and industry news and information to our audience. We couldn’t do it without the people who visit and interact with us daily via social media.”

The finalists in each ESMA category were selected from more than 17,100 nominations from more than 5,100 individuals. Selections were based on the strength of supporting statements made in nominations and the degree to which nominees are active and engaging in their online efforts.

The ESMAs began in 2010 in the United Kingdom and allow professionals, fans, and followers of equine brands and businesses to vote for their favorite social media users.
