A man who drove his van into a horse-drawn carriage in downtown Indianapolis, Ind., has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated and other charges.


The crash sent two tourists from Louisville, Ky., on a wild ride as the carriage driver was knocked off and the spooked horses ran down the street.


Forty-six-year-old Timothy Carlson was arrested April 8 after his van hit a Yellow Rose Carriage buggy on a Sunday afternoon outside the Circle Centre mall.


A 19-year-old man chased after the runaway carriage and, with the help of a taxi driver, caught up several blocks later, jumped aboard and grabbed the reins to bring the buggy to a halt. The carriage driver and the two passengers suffered minor injuries
