The American Horse Council announced that Alex Waldrop, president and chief executive officer of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), has been elected to the AHC board of trustees.

“It is great to have an AHC trustee with the background and knowledge that Alex Waldrop brings,” said AHC President Jay Hickey. “He has broad legislative experience not only in Washington, but also at the state level, has worked within the industry at Churchill Downs and represented varied and important racing and industry clients as an attorney. This has given him a deep, substantive knowledge of the racing industry and the important issues facing it now. We are very pleased he will be on the board.”

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horse racing interests consisting of leading Thoroughbred racetracks, owners, breeders, trainers and affiliated horse racing associations.

“I am proud to have been elected to the board of trustees of the American Horse Council, an organization that is vital to the entire equine industry,” said Waldrop. “It is crucial that the NTRA builds and maintains the strongest possible ties with the AHC, as well as with various breed organizations, as we pursue a host of important initiatives in the legislative realm and elsewhere
