Wyoming Police Probe Horse Shooting

Wyoming authorities are investigating the death of horse found dead in a Campbell County pasture.

Gary Sams, sergeant of investigations for the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, said deputies responded to a call from an owner who discovered her horse dead in his pasture, which was located about 30 feet from the road, on Oct. 8, Sams said. Further investigation revealed that the animal had sustained a single gunshot wound from a small-caliber firearm to his right flank, Sams said.

He said it was unclear whether the horse had been targeted or if the animal was struck by a hunter’s stay bullet.

The incident remains under investigation, he said
