The Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) recently awarded a $6,600.00 grant to the Kentucky Equine Humane Center (KyEHC) to purchase a mower that will be used to maintain turnout fields.

The Kentucky Equine Humane Center is nonprofit equine rescue facility that accepts all breeds of Kentucky horses, mules, and donkeys and rehabilitates and re-homes them. In operation just over a year, the Nicholasville center has placed more than 100 equines in new homes. In addition to providing rehabilitative care for horses, it is important that the Equine Humane Center maintains a professional appearance to encourage visits from potential adopters.

“The work of the Kentucky Equine Humane Center is vitally important to many Kentucky horses,” commented KHC Board President, Madelyn Millard. “We are pleased to support their mission and recognize that they exemplify responsible equine stewardship and rescue efforts.”

Educational seminars are regularly offered at KyEHC in an effort to provide much-needed information to horse owners and those considering horse ownership. The goal of the education program is to educate the public about responsible equine ownership and breeding so that fewer horses end up in crisis
