ReRun, a non-profit Thoroughbred adoption program, announced Feb. 10 that Jane Gilbert has been elected as its new president.

A lifelong horsewoman, Gilbert lives on a 36-acre farm in Titusville, N.J., where she and her husband breed and race Thoroughbreds at New Jersey racetracks and Philadelphia Park.

"These are especially challenging times in this economic climate and the prospects for retired racehorses are seriously affected," said Gilbert. "We are committed to educate owners and trainers as to aftercare options and to place these equine athletes in second careers."

Gilbert has been licensed for 30 years as a United States Equestrian Foundation "R" Judge in hunters, hunt seat equitation, jumpers, and dressage. She has served as past president of New Jersey-bred Hunters, Eastern States Dressage and CT Association, New Jersey Equine Advisory Board (Department of Agriculture), and the New Jersey Horse Council, as well as being a member of ReRun’s board of directors
