Equine veterinarians representing the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) On Call program will assist NBC Sports with horse health information during the Oct. 29 Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Belmont Park. World-renowned equine surgeons Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, and Wayne McIlwraith, BVSc, PhD, DSc, FRCVS, Dipl. ACVS, will be available to provide timely health reports to the media and the viewing audience regarding the athletes in each race.

Bramlage is a partner in Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He is the immediate past president of the AAEP and is the chairman of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation’s Research Advisory Committee.

McIlwraith, who also is an AAEP past president, is a professor of surgery and director of the Orthopaedic Research Center at Colorado State University. He holds the Barbara Cox Anthony University Chair in Orthopaedics. Both Bramlage and McIlwraith are board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
