Five quarantines put in place after equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) was detected in a horse previously stabled at the Horse Shows in the Sun (HITS) facility in Ocala, Fla., have been released following negative test results, according to a March 13 statement from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).

The statement indicated that more than 200 horses were tested for the virus, including all horses in tents 3, 6, and 7 at the HITS showgrounds (the tents in which horses that later tested positive for EHV-1 were stabled while at the facility) and others residing at quarantined premises.

"All horses tested negative with the exception of two horses under quarantine in St. Augustine," the March 13 statement read. "As a result, the HITS showgrounds and several premises outside the … showgrounds were released from quarantine this morning. The St. Augustine premises will remain in quarantine for a minimum of an additional 14 days
