Four horses residing near Margaret River, West Australia, are dead, but their cause of death remains unknown, according to published reports.

According to a report from The West Australian, the Department of Food and Agriculture of West Australia (DFAWA) is investigating the deaths, which took place over a span of six days.

In the report, a DFAWA representative said there was no evidence the deaths were caused by hendra virus or an infectious disease. The representative also noted in the report that, based on clinical signs, the causes of death might not be the same for all the animals.
