Florida Sire Reprized Euthanized

Reprized, a full brother to 1989 Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. I) winner and sire Prized, was euthanized Oct. 16 at Bill and Debra's Backlinie's D&B Farm near Morrison, Fla.

"It's a tough loss," said Bill Backlinie. "He was D&B Farm ... he was our farm."

Reprized, a foal of 1990, was by Kris S, out of the My Dad George mare My Turbulent Miss. Bred in Florida by Meadowbrook Farms, Reprized was unraced and entered stud in 1993 at Meadowbrook. He stood at several farms in Florida, including Double Diamond Farm and the Ocala Jockey Club prior to moving to D&B in 2005.

He was the sire of three stakes winners including Tropical Park Derby (gr. III) winner Valid Reprized.

"He was in a fire at Meadowbrook Farm a few years ago," Backlinie said. "He had really bad feet from where he pawed at the concrete trying to get out. They were able to save him at the time and he's had four good years here."

The fire took place May 6, 2003, destroying the stud barn and killing five stallions: Darn That Alarm, Traitor, Star of Valor, Reality Road, and Faygo.
