The Louisiana State University (LSU) Equine Health Studies Program is seeking donations of horses with front limb lameness (Grade 2-4) due to osteoarthritis (OA). This project requires donation of horses to the LSU Foundation, the nonprofit arm of LSU.

The project is the testing of a novel neutriceutical for the treatment of lameness in horses due to osteoarthritis. The study aims to determine if treatment with natural herbs will alleviate pain in horse with osteoarthritis of the front limbs.

The horses will be well cared for and will not undergo any painful procedures. The study has full approval from the LSU Institute of Animal Care and Use Committee.

If you or your client has a horse with a front limb lameness (other than laminitis or navicular disease) and would like to donate the horse to LSU, please call or email Frank Andrews, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVIM, director of the LSU Equine Health Studies Program at 225/578-9500 or fandrews@lsu.edu
