The University of Pennsylvania’s (UPenn) New Bolton Center has announced that Tamara Dobbie, DVM, Dipl. ACT, has joined the section of reproduction at New Bolton Center as a staff veterinarian. New Bolton Center is the UPenn School of Veterinary Medicine’s large animal campus, located in Kennett Square, Pa.

Dobbie graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, in 1995 and worked for three years in a private mixed-animal practice in Midland, Ontario. In 1998, she came to New Bolton Center for a residency in large animal reproduction, which she completed in 2000–the same year she earned her board certification. Dobbie remained at New Bolton Center as a lecturer for two additional years. She has been working in private practice since leaving New Bolton Center in 2002.

"As staff veterinarian, I will be providing emergency coverage and assuming some of the clinical workload for the other clinicians in the section," says Dobbie. "I’ll also have the opportunity to assist with clinical laboratories and teaching for the veterinary students. It’s good to be back."

Says Dirk Vanderwall, DVM, PhD and chief of the section of reproduction at New Bolton Center, "Dr. Dobbie brings a wealth of practical experience that will add immensely to the full range of hospital services and teaching activities we provide. In particular, Dr. Dobbie will lead the clinical service program for reproductive emergencies we see at the George D. Widener Hospital at New Bolton Center and she will teach a food animal reproduction clinical rotation for our fourth-year veterinary students. In addition, she will be directly involved in providing all of the equine breeding services we offer at the Georgia and Philip Hofmann Center for Animal Reproduction at New Bolton Center
