The administration of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine has announced a re-structuring of personnel, effective immediately, which is designed to create a more efficient business operation and facility, enabling one of the nation’s leading veterinary teaching hospitals to better serve its clients.


Twenty three members of the staff in the hospital will be affected in some way by this change. Some positions will be consolidated, some will be re-classified, and some will be eliminated. Staff members will be offered severance packages and assistance from the University Office of Human Resources.


“We will be able to offer better customer care through cross-training, with the flexibility to provide staffing in critical areas during our busiest times,” explained Dr. Grant Frazer, hospital director. “The changing demographics of cases at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the challenging local economy require that we respond pro-actively to prevent budget deficits.”


A review of client billing and payment policies and a reduction-in-spending plan for non-essential equipment have already resulted in savings. A projected operating deficit of about $850,000 required further action
