Equine Flu in Sydney Police Horses
A news story on News.com.au, quoted New South Wales Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald on Aug. 28 saying six police horses in Sydney tested positive for equine influenza, and all horses at that police depot were in quarantine.
A news story on News.com.au, quoted New South Wales Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald on Aug. 28 saying six police horses in Sydney tested positive for equine influenza, and all horses at that police depot were in quarantine. Macdonald was quoted as saying all of the horses tested positive to H3N8 type of equine influenza.
The story stated that 58 horses on nine properties in New South Wales had equine influenza, with another 615 horses in quarantine.

Racingandsports.com.au noted that the police horses were regularly taken to Centennial Park, site of the first outbreak, for exercise. The horses’ stable is only 3km from Randwick Racecourse. Earlier Aug. 28, four Thoroughbred racehorses tested at Randwick were found negative for equine influenza
