BI Requests Proposals for 2017 Equine Research Awards

Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) is inviting public and private researchers studying equine infectious diseases to submit proposals for the 2017 Equine Research Awards.

“With our continued focus on prevention, BI is dedicated to supporting equine research proposals which focus on identifying preventative methods and new disease treatment,” says Steve Grubbs, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, BI’s equine technical manager. “Over the last six years we’ve helped fund 30 research proposals. This program has continued to support the equine industry and demonstrate our commitment to helping advance the understanding, diagnosis and prevention of equine diseases.

Proposals must address the following focus areas for consideration:

  • Practical application and ability to improve the diagnosis, pathogenesis, transmission, control, and/or prevention of equine infectious disease(s); and
  • Disease(s) can be bacterial or viral etiologies.

Veterinarians, diagnosticians, and public and private researchers in the United States and Canada are eligible to submit proposals for research programs that help advance the diagnosis, treatment and understanding of equine infectious diseases. BI will give a total of $75,000 in five individual $15,000 awards to fund selected studies
