Oklahoma Authorities Seek 10 Missing Horses

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding 10 horses missing from their pasture near Sparks, Oklahoma.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Department investigator Larry Stover said the horses' owner reported the animals were missing from their pasture on Aug. 11. An eleventh horse was later found by its owner, he said.

Stover said all the missing horses are mares, and are valued at a total of $40,000.

“These are very expensive horses,” Stover said. “One Palomino alone is valued at $10,000.”

Stover said it's currently unclear whether someone entered the property to take the horses.

“But it's a lot of horses,” Stover said. “I'd think you'd probably need more than one horse trailer to move that many.”

Stover said the animals' owner also reported a burglary at the same property where the horses resided. Currently, the Lincoln County Sheriff's office is investigating the incident as a horse theft, he said.

“Right now, my job is to find those horses and to find those who are responsible,” Stover said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Lincoln County Sheriff's office at 405/258-1191.
