Maricopa County, Arizona, sheriff's deputies are seeking whoever slashed a horse's neck in its barn near Scottsdale.

Lieutenant Brandon Jones, public information officer for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded to a call on June 18 from an owner who found his horse had been slashed in the neck while the animal was in its barn. Deputies did not immediately determine the cause of the horse's wound, and the implement used to cut the horse remains undetermined, he said.

"We don't know what cut the horse, but it is consistent with a sharp object of some type," Jones said.

Jones said the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about the case should call 602/876-1681, he said.
