The Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and its Equine Health Studies Program (EHSP) invite all horse racing enthusiasts and merrymakers to its seventh annual Kentucky Derby Party presented by Louisiana law firm Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips. The event will take place on Saturday, May 6, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Churchill’s in the Atrium in downtown Baton Rouge, La. Proceeds will go to the EHSP’s building fund for the planned Equine Isolation Unit.

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s 2005 Kentucky Derby Party included a hat competition. While celebrating the 132nd “Run for the Roses,” guests will enjoy an afternoon of Kentucky Derby activities and cuisine. Ladies are asked to wear hats and gentlemen are asked to wear sports jackets or a coat and tie, as there will be a ladies’ derby hat competition and a gentlemen’s tie contest. Tickets will be offered for individuals wanting to “bet” on their favorite horse or horses. A silent auction will also be held during the afternoon. The afternoon party will also include an exhibition of equestrian art by local artist Anita LeJeune and other fun-filled activities
