U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) health officials confirmed six new cases of equine vesicular stomatitis (VS) in four western states (Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming) that are already under quarantine for the disease. The equine cases were located in three new counties: Caribou County, Idaho, Summit County, Utah, and Campbell County, Wyo. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture has added these three counties to its VS embargoed areas. The VS embargo prohibits entry to the state from embargoed counties and restricts the entrance of livestock from VS-positive states.

In addition, New Mexico was removed from the Kentucky embargoed areas following the release from quarantine of the state’s remaining two VS premises.

Kentucky VS embargoed counties:

Colorado: Delta, Mesa, Montezuma, and Ouray
