Two horses have died in separate incidents at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, in Texas.

Show spokesman Matt Brockman said a 9-year-old gelding named Treasure Of Patience sustained a spinal cord injury after crashing into a wall during a Jan. 29 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)-sanctioned saddle bronc riding event. An attending veterinarian euthanized the animal.

Additionally, another bucking horse sustained similar fatal injuries during a non-PRCA-sanctioned bareback riding event, said PRCA Livestock Program Administrator Jed Pugsley.

Brockman said such incidents are rare, but should they occur staff members are trained to respond rapidly and a veterinarian is present on Stock Show grounds 24 hours a day throughout the show’s 23-day run
