Washington state law enforcement authorities are seeking those responsible for shooting eight Quarter Horses in their pasture.

Detective Sergeant Mike Russell, a Yakima County Sheriff's Department spokesman, said an owner found two of his horses dead in a pasture in Harrah, Wash., on Feb. 10. On Feb. 11, the same owner found six more of his horses dead in the same pasture, he said. All of the horses had sustained gunshot wounds.

“The (six) horses were found lying in a straight line,” Russell said.

Russell said the shootings do not appear to be hunting accidents, no one nearby heard gunshots, and there were no eye-witnesses
