NDSU Extension to Hold Equine Workshops

Lecture topics include weed identification, pasture management; deworming, composting, vaccination programs, and more.

Hands-on pasture weed identification and deworming protocols are among the topics that will be covered at this year’s North Dakota State University Extension Service Equine Encounters workshops.

“This workshop is for all horse owners, both youth and adults, who want to learn about pasture management, manure management and general health recommendations for their animals,” said Mary Berg, MS, area Extension livestock environmental management specialist at the Carrington Research Extension Center.

The dates and locations of the workshops, along with the Extension agent to contact to register, are:

  • May 25—North Central Research Extension Center, near Minot—Paige Brummund—701/857-6444 or paige.f.brummund@ndsu.edu;
  • June 6—Jubilee Equine, in Horace—Kelcey Hoffmann—701/241-5700 or kelcey.hoffmann@ndsu.edu;
  • June 7—Dickinson State University Ag Building, in Dickinson—Kurt Froelich—701/456-7665; and
  • June 8—departing from the Flying J in Mandan—Jackie Buckley—701/667-3340 or jackie.buckley@ndsu.edu

Registration and supper will start at 5:30 p.m. local time and the program will begin at 6 p.m. The fee is $5 per person and will be collected at the door
