Ask the Vet LIVE Q&A: Green Horse Keeping Now Available

There is no need to start panicking about osteoarthritis (OA) the day your foal’s feet hit the ground, but its impact should be considered following every footfall thereafter. When a horse owner says, “My horse has arthritis,” the image that often first pops into our heads is an older retired horse standing alone in a field. “This is simply not an accurate picture of a typical horse with OA.”

TheHorse.com's free Ask the Vet LIVE Q&A chat on Green Horse Keeping was held April 28, and the audio recording is now available. Going green is all the rage these days, and adopting eco-friendly horse and farm management techniques can often save you some green, increase efficiency, and provide a healthier environment for your horses, as well. What environmentally friendly management practices might work for you and your farm? What changes can you make right now to reduce your farm's environmental impact? Horse owners worldwide got answers to these questions and many more during this session.

Listen in as our on-call panelists for this event (Joyce Harman, DVM, owner of a holistic equine practice in Virginia for all types of horses; and Alayne Renee Blickle, is a lifelong equestrian and reining competitor, contributing author to TheHorse.com's Smart Horsekeeping blog, and the creator/director of Horses for Clean Water, an award-winning, nationally acclaimed environmental education program) discuss green horse keeping.

Listen to their advice here (you'll need to be a registered member of TheHorse.com to listen, but registration is free): Ask The Vet LIVE: Green Horse Keeping.
