Salt River Horses so Far Safe From Bush Fire

Feral horses residing in Salt River area of Arizona’s Tonto National Forest are so far not threatened by a brush fire that erupted in the area earlier this week.

On April 25 the so-called Cactus fire broke out along the Bush Highway near the Salt River, said David Albo, Tonto National Forest public information officer.

“The fire was reported in the afternoon and, so far, has consumed about 25 acres,” Albo said.

However, thus far, the Salt River wild horses appear unaffected by the blaze, he said
