Most of the 31 horses removed from an Oregon farm last month are thriving under rehabilitative care, said Cindy Kingsberry, president and founder of Linn County Animal Rescue, the agency in charge of the animals.

Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies and animal rescue volunteers removed the animals from the Cross-Tie Ranch near Mill City on Jan. 22 after investigating complaints about conditions there. The seized horses were among 116 animals residing on the approximately 15-acre property. The rest remain on the property.

"We lost one foal since the seizure, but the remaining 30 are running, bucking, and playing," Kingsberry said.

Ranch operator Tania Herring was charged with 30 counts of animal neglect. She will appear in Linn County Circuit Court on Feb. 24
