Western CVM to Host 4-H, Pony Clubbers for Educational Day

Members of the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) Equine Club will again host young horse enthusiasts during the annual 4-H and Pony Club Educational Day, scheduled for Jan. 26, 2013. The Equine Club is the CVM’s chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.

According to a release on the school’s website, sessions will be targeted at different age groups and experience levels.

"Most of the talks and activities tie back to equine medicine and horse health in some way — but we try to make every session as interesting and as useful as possible for the 4-H and Pony Club members," Maria Fuchs, a third-year veterinary student at the WCVM and program organizer, said in the release. "For example, emphasis is placed on things the kids would actually use such as first aid, the importance of nutrition and how to feed their horses, lameness, and parasites
