Deadly Indiana Horse Shootings Probed

One horse in Anderson, Ind., was killed. Another was seriously wounded and is undergoing treatment.

Police in Anderson, Ind., are seeking whoever is responsible for the shooting death of one horse and seriously wounding another earlier this week.

City of Anderson Police Department Public Information Officer Det. Joel Sandefur said that on Nov. 28, the horses’ owner contacted police after discovering the dead 6 year-old gelding and the wounded 3-year-old mare lying in their pasture.

"Both horses had been shot multiple times with a handgun and a shotgun," Sandefur said.

The gelding’s remains were transported to Purdue University for necropsy, he relayed. The wounded mare was also transporter to Purdue for treatment, he said
