A U.S. Senate committee has released its witness list for a July 12 hearing on medication use in horse racing.

A United States Senate committee has released its witness list for a July 12 hearing on medication use in horse racing.

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation released the list of speakers July 9. Eight individuals will speak at the hearing, which will be held at 2:30 p.m. EDT in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Democratic Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico will chair the hearing even though Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia chairs the committee. Udall was instrumental in scheduling a similar hearing in late April in Kennett Square, Pa., and is a sponsor of federal legislation that would regulate medication use in horse racing.

The hearing is titled "Medication and Performance-Enhancing Drugs in Horse Racing
