On March 6, New Bolton Center will present "Suspensory Ligament Diseases in the Performance Horse." The lecture is part of the First Tuesdays Lecture Series at Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa. The series offers the public open lectures on equine topics, at no charge, the first Tuesday of each month.

The March 6 lecture will be a presented in New Bolton Center’s Alumni Hall by Suzanne Stewart, DVM. Stewart, a graduate of the Veterinary School of the University College Dublin, Ireland, will be talking about the diagnosis, treatment, and management of suspensory inflammation, particularly as it pertains to the performance horse. The lecture will address surgical treatment options and intralesional injection with bone marrow, platelet rich plasma, or stem cells. Stewart is a resident in large animal surgery at New Bolton Center.

The First Tuesday Lecture Series offers faculty and clinicians at New Bolton Center an opportunity to share current information on topics of interest and relevance to horse owners and caregivers throughout the region. Upcoming lecture topics include what qualifies as an emergency (April), first aid and emergency stabilization (May), and eye cancer in horses (June).
