Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, the official equine hospital and veterinary partner of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, will host tours April 21-23, for visitors during the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. Tour guests will walk through the state-of-the-art facility and view surgery, diagnostic imaging systems, and the podiatry center, and learn about advances in equine veterinary medicine and patient care. Educational presentations on MRI and treadmill endoscopic evaluation of the equine upper airway will be included in the tour.

Travis Tull, DVM, will present information about MRI and its application in equine veterinary medicine. MRI has only been used in equine clinical cases for the past decade and has come into widespread use just within the last 5 years. MRI is a rapidly evolving sector of equine medicine that is helping to advance veterinary diagnostic abilities. Rood & Riddle has a 1.5 Tesla high-field magnet MRI unit and is one of a handful of private equine hospitals in the country with this level of MRI technology.

Brett Woodie, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, will give a video presentation in the treadmill room to explain how the treadmill exam is performed and also show some common upper airway abnormalities that affect the equine athlete.

"We look forward to having horsemen and women visit our hospital during the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event," Woodie said. "It will be a great opportunity to share our knowledge of cutting edge diagnostics and treatment options for the equine athlete
