Horse Rescue Operators Share Christmas Wish Lists

The holiday season is prime time for supporting charitable organizations, and horse rescues are often atop equine enthusiasts’ contribution lists. To ensure donors make the most of dollars or supplies they contribute, several rescuer operators from around the country offer are sharing what’s on their wish lists.

Topping operators’ lists are the basics most every horse rescue needs and uses regularly, including:

  • Halters;
  • Dewormers;
  • Leads;
  • Saddle pads;
  • Blankets;
  • Fly spray and other control products;
  • Hay; and
  • Senior grain.

Some items, like saddle pads, blankets, and halters, needn’t be brand new in order to donate them, said Thoroughbred advocate Fran Burns, of Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue, in Glenville, Pennsylvania.

“Sometimes people have items on hand that they would sell or are just nor using anymore,” Burns said. “Rescues are always happy to have them, especially if they are gently used
