Sport horse veterinarian Kent Allen, DVM, and Virginia Equine Imaging (VEI) hosted a workshop of the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP) March 27-29. According to Allen, who owns the imaging practice based in Middleburg, ISELP’s goal is to provide contemporary knowledge and techniques in the continually evolving field of equine locomotor analysis that will better prepare the equine clinician to understand and manage lameness conditions in the equine athlete.

More than 100 equine veterinarians from eight countries accepted Allen’s invitation to learn about the innovative new practices presented in this three-day workshop. The primary presenter, Jean-Marie Denoix, DVM, PhD, director of the Centre d’Imagerie et de Recherche sur les Affections Locomotrices Equines (CIRALE) in Dozulé (Normandy), France, is world-renowned for his expertise in equine anatomy and imaging techniques.
Presentations made by Denoix concluded with practical sessions on live horses, allowing attendees to assimilate technical data directly useful in their everyday practice. “Many thanks to Dr. Kent Allen for the perfect organization of this module and, in general, for the administrative leadership of ISELP,” said Denoix of the workshop
