A Tulsa, Okla., police officer is recovering from a head injury he sustained when his patrol car collided with a horse on a city street early Monday morning (Dec. 3).

Police say Corporal Randy Solomon was following an ambulance shortly before 1 a.m. when he saw the horse running in the center of the road toward him.

Officers say Solomon didn’t have time to avoid the animal and it ran into the driver’s side of his car, then crashed through the windshield and hit Solomon in the head.

Solomon was treated and released at a local hospital, while the horse also survived and was taken by animal control officers for medical treatment
