An eighth man has been arrested in connection with raids on three illegal slaughter farms in Florida.

Last month investigators form the Animal Recovery Mission (ARM), along with personnel from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) and other agencies, raided Rancho Garcia in Loxahatchee and G.A. Paso Fino Farm and Medina Farm, both in West Palm Beach, for allegedly illegally slaughtering animals, including horses, and selling their meat for human consumption. Seven people were arrested in connection with the raids.

On Oct. 27, an eighth man, Jose Guadalupe Pena, Jr., an employee of Rancho Garcia, was arrested in connection with the case, PBSO records indicate. Pena was charged with one count of causing animals cruel death, pain, and suffering and one count of tormenting, mutilating, and killing animals.

Pena is free on bond and was unavailable for comment
