Thirty stock horses are receiving rehabilitative care after being seized from their owner in Clay County, Texas.

Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons said sheriff's department personnel responded to a call that a horse was down along a Clay County roadside in February.

“That horse was down because it was dying,” Lemons said.

Lemons said that upon arrival, sheriff's deputies discovered 30 alleged malnourished horses residing on property owned by Barney Brehmer. The herd consisted of Quarter Horses and Mustangs, Lemons said, and all the horses were rodeo stock
