Nets Five AHP Awards

Blood-Horse Publications received a total of nine awards on Saturday, June 21 at the American Horse Publications (AHP) Annual Awards Program held in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Sixty-nine AHP members were named finalists in the 2008 AHP Annual Awards Contest for material published in 2007. Participation in this year's contest represented 105 AHP members and 1,092 entries.

Twenty-nine professional judges placed the classes and provided constructive critiques for all entries. Since its inception in 1974, the American Horse Publications Annual Awards Program has recognized excellence in editorial content and graphic design.

American Horse Publications is a non-profit professional association of more than 470 publications, individuals, and equine-related businesses dedicated to promoting better understanding and communication within the equine publishing industry. was recognized as follows:

First Place: Online News Reporting: News Breaking Story; (4 entries); for "Ga. Neglect Case: Defense Team Questions Necessity of Seizure" by Erin Ryder.

First Place: Online News Reporting: Related Feature Story; (5 entries); for "Working with Morocco's Horses: Journey's End" by Jeremy Campfield.

Second Place: Online News Reporting: Related Feature Story; (5 entries); for "John Henry's Last Days" by Erin Ryder.

First Place: Online Service to the Reader; (3 entries); for "Making a New Mom for a Rejected Filly" by Scot T. Gillies.
