Gaughan Joins Virginia Tech as Large Animal Surgeon

Earl Gaughan, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, of Sedalia, Colo., has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as a clinical professor of large animal surgery in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.

Gaughan previously worked as a staff surgeon for the Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colo. Prior to that, he was a professor of clinical sciences and equine section chief at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and held similar roles at Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He also held veterinary positions at clinics in Beallsville, Md., and Rutland, Vt.

"Dr. Gaughan brings years of clinical experience to the college’s large animal surgical team," said David Hodgson, BVSc, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, FACSM, professor and head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the veterinary college. "In particular, his interest and expertise in equine surgery and lameness has already proven to be invaluable in our large animal clinic, where he is making outstanding contributions to client service, patient care, and instruction of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students and residents."

Gaughan began his position with the veterinary college on Sept. 22
